In 1813, following his disastrous invasion of Russia, Napoleon faced a desperate battle to save his empire. His enemies were gaining in strength, as Prussia and Sweden joined the Sixth Coalition against him, while Russian armies advanced across Poland and into Germany. The French Emperor worked miracles to raise a new Grande Armée of young conscripts, leading them to victory at Lützen and Bautzen. But Napoleon knew everything might ultimately depend on Austria – which side would his father-in-law, Austrian Emperor Francis I, chose to support? The matter would be settled after a fateful and ill-tempered meeting in Dresden between Napoleon and Austrian foreign minister von Metternich…

Napoleon's defeat was utterly undeserved. Every time that he lost it was because of exceptionally negative circumstances. All of the pile-on squads of enemies that defeated him were (with the exception of Kutuzov) total cowards and undeserving of being remembered.

Napoleon should have never set foot in Russia. He misjudged the weather, planned really poorly, and lost almost half a million men! He let power get to his head and that ultimately became his downfall. He was also fighting wars on two fronts! Sounds familiar right?? 😉 Nazi Germany made the exact same mistakes in WWII. They tried to invade Russia, power went to Hitler's head, and he fought a war on two fronts. If I were Napoleon, I wouldn't have invaded Russia at all. Hell, I wouldn't have invaded Spain either because the Spanish Campaign was a disaster! A huge waste for Napoleon! After the failure in Russia, he was doomed. There was no recovering from that. Austria joining the Sixth Coalition made matters worse. He should've listened to that messanger. But again, his power went to his head! See how this can be bad??

I see a strong resemblance of macArthur in napoleon, both read the newspapers about themselves and developed a feeling of infallability.

France make Russia burn their city to avoid being defeated
Russia reach Paris
France : Yes about that I'm sorry man… Why don't you chill out and let us go like nothing happened
1 months later : 7th coalition

So the British fought tangentially while supplying gold and supplies allowing Russians to pay in blood to defeat their continental nemesis. Where have I seen that before???

Looking at the numbers and types of supplies England sent to the 6th coalition alone, it becomes clear these wars fueled much of the start of the industrial revolution.
