You could also install packages from the Snap-Store of the newest Ubuntu version I think… As last option you could run nearly all Windows Programms with "Win". PS: Nice Video. If i should be onest, I subscribed you because I thought your Name is LinuxTechTipps. But I stayed subscribed because you make Interestig videos. Thank you!

So pop OS is better for gaming?
Question is: i have laptop with dual graphics (intel + nvdia) how to configure them to work well and which distro is better for it? I love Manjaro better because it's using not much rams and other resources, works so fast. But they mentioned that Pop Os is better for dual graphics, cause they supporting it.
Another question: with Manjaro i have very poor sound on hp laptop, it's happend like i thinked… to install linux and use it's not enough, i guess i should install all drivers too.
I would appreciate if someone would explain what steps to do after linux installation, to have all neccessary drivers and so on.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux,
is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux.
Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component
of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell
utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day,
without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU
which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are
not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a
part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system
that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run.
The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself;
it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is
normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system
is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux"
distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

You don't need to install Wine to install Windows games on Linux using Steam Play. Only install Steam and use the Steam settings to activate Steam Play. For many games it just works. There is nothing extra to do.

I had Linux(Ubuntu MATE)/Win 10 dual boot on my previous machine. I used Linux as my main OS, and Win 10 just for games that did not run on Linux. At the time few games ran on Linux, or some just ran a lot better on Win 10. Over time I started using Win 10 more and more because I do a lot of gaming and I grew tired of switching between the two, so on my current machine I just use Win 10. I dislike Windows, but I just prefer being able to play all of my games without trouble. After seeing this I might give returning to Linux as my main OS another try.

Ok, full disclaimer, I'm just learning about this stuff, I don't know anything about Linux really, I'm trying to figure out what my first steps are. I remember hearing at the end of last year that Stadia was a huge flop, and I haven't heard anything about it since, which doesn't bode well. My (possibly dumb) question is does that mean that Linux isn't really getting the support right now that the man on the left keeps hyping? I'm concerned about switching our computer at home from Windows to Linux because we have a young lady with special needs who already can grasp Windows, and if there's too much extra learning to do the things they normally do on Windows she'll have a really hard time. Is the stuff they said you have to do at 6:30 getting less common (because I don't really think she'll be able to handle that well)? Is the difficulty for her going to be low enough to warrant the benefit for me?

it is funny to see that the concept of app store was used long ago by linux distributions ! What should be tell to new linux users coming from windows is that indeed it look more like a phone, plenty of app are available, if you want to install some custom stuff you will have to fiddle… but you mostly never will have the need for, since there is plenty of app available !! And the day you will need you, you should be already a bit knowledgeable

Well, this didn't work out well, because Linux is still shit on the desktop, and Linux gaming is still shit compared to Windows. I can safely say Linux is not the future of gaming. Linux fanboys have been bloviating about the rise of Linux on the desktop for decades. Man up and admit defeat, like Windows Phone fanboys. As soon as you start talking about terminal, I start laughing.

By the way, Stadia is also shit.

The single most helpful thing you did for anyone unfamiliar with how Linux works, and feel daunted at the idea of installing applications via the terminal: Give them the verbal permission to just copy and paste commands from the respective developers’ site instructions.
