on my Apache24 folder under C: i don't have the phpinfo.php file you have. so when i open the apache server and go to phpadmin, after changing the httpd.conf "DirectoryIndex index.html" to "DirectoryIndex index.php": ?php, i see this in the browser and not the myphp login that you have: (note that i truncated the rest). Appreciate any help.

If you have gone wrong guys. Just set the xampp or whatever up again and it will run afresh. I had to mess about with mine as I put passwords on my users but I lost my connection. I changed the conf files and it is fine. So thank you to all who puts forward ideas.

For everyone who keeps getting the source code on the page (or not even recognizing phpmyadmin), here is my solution :
In the php directory, go to "php.ini". In the extension section, make sure the following are NOT commented :
extension=php_mysqli.dll
extension=php_mbstring.dll

In addition, i also had these on so you can just test and see if phpmyadmin works without them
extension=php_curl.dll
extension=php_openssl.dll

In the event that your browser says that phpmyadmin isn't in the directory (no results found), you must go to the Apache directory, in the "conf" subdirectory, then in "httpd.conf". In there, search for the DocumentRoot and Directory. These are the default settings, to the "htdocs" file inside Apache, which should look like this :
DocumentRoot "c:/Apache24/htdocs"
<Directory "c:/Apache24/htdocs">
(some tutorials might set them to a separate folder in c, such as localhost)
My Apache directory is right in C.
Also, make sure your php is in the PATH as well

Finally, do NOT forget to restart the Apache service (you must do this every time you change something in the Apache and php directories). You go to the desktop, at startup, type Services, and then a window with all running services should pop up. Look for Apache, which should be among the first, then restart it. Hope this helps.
