This video will show you how to choose a Linux Distribution. I always say distribution doesn’t matter and it is merely a starting place.

May 15, 2020I decided to ditch Windows 10 on my laptop. My laptop has both an Intel and Nvidia graphics card, should I choose either Pop or Mint? The only real game I really play now is Quake Live on Steam.

May 15, 2020It's almost as if money is a bigger incentive for wanting people to use your software than anything else… If I saw a glitzy Apple style commercial for Manjaro on the Super Bowl, it'd raise a lot of questions and suspicions…

May 15, 2020I have pass the time that I want to try a hole bunch of distros. Today I just want thing to work, or I go direct to arch Linux or an Ubuntu based distro. Nowadays I'm using Pop OS because the way the manage Nvidia drivers. It simply works! And if I want a different config or program I just go and install it. It's Linux it will work!

May 15, 2020No matter what I do I always end up back at arch.
You've shown me the ways of btrfs as well.
For me it really is everything I want. I boot it up and it works exactly with everything I need in less than 20 minutes post install.

May 15, 2020I installed debian 10 with Xfce on my 65-years old uncle new budget laptop because it was the only thing able to run on these (don't buy cheap computers, win10 just stopped working), mint: didn't work, ubuntu: hate it, better win10, also didn't work, elementary: don't even boot the live media. So Debian+Non-free was the way to go, in less than 20 minutes it was all done (eMMC are faster than HDD an helps), he didn't notice much diference as in less than 5 minutes Xfce looked like win10 (arc-theme and papirus-icon-theme were mandatary for good look). The boot has issue with the eMMC, but since it gnu /linux it don't have to shutdown, so boot "fixed". And it comes with firefox so netflix and youtube run like charm. So, a live install (calamares installer) using non-free version is really easy (I pray to Stallman don't read that comment) and the benefit of debian are HUGE, it's low resorces consuming and it won't break NEVER. Btw, i'm a Debian Stable user for about 3 years, after a comeback on the gnu world and frustrating with mint because I need my machine to work, especially with big files in QGIS and I don't want any crashes, the one time it freezes it fixed itself the next morning. I was previously recommending mint for start (it's so damn sleek and beautiful) or elementary for those coming from mac, but I know now that everyone can use debian with a little help (god save the community). I also like fedora and manjaro for everyday use, but all in all i'll stick with stability and set it and forget it mantra. Debian Stable + Xfce or Debian Testing + KDE are some of the best combos out there, the last for bleeding edge everyday use and the former for serious work. That's a little advice for those looking for debian.

May 15, 2020Really love your videos, thank you for the tips, I'm really considering switching to Linux for my laptop and was a bit lost in the first step which is the distribution choice. I'm a real boob on Linux and wanted to find something that could help me progressively learn how all work. Your advices helped me a lot thank you !

May 15, 2020I agree with everything, but Ubuntu is OK (not WoW, but ok), just not the best. Pop OS is cool, and I like gnome better than the rest. I run Fedora 32 now (stated on 29), but I installed Debian and changed it to testing, and it was like Fedora, but it was Debian. I loved it, and I might go back to it.

May 15, 2020I asked my friend for his favorite Linux Distro, because I am using a custom Linux from Scratch with every Linux Program I need, Wine with all Windows Programs I need and KDE one a 1TB Disk and FreeBSD with KDE and all my BSD Programs and private Files on another 1TB Disk. He said Windows. He is now not my friend anymore.

May 15, 2020Yeah I run Arch (manjaro) downloaded Linux for the first time 4 days ago now. I’ve been through lubuntu, popos, Debian and now settled on manjaro. Gotta say it the best and easiest to use for me. And I’ve got a cool crt terminal with everything I need being on the AUR.
