May 13, 2020the real question is do you want to use the linux repository or will you take the windows suppository?

May 13, 2020I run Debian Unstable for years. I don’t feel the need to run a rolling distro like Arch.

May 13, 2020For me, Manjaro is my favourite..

May 13, 2020A few things:
– The GNU project does not officially endorse Debian as a free distro.
– Debian does have a non-free repository (albeit not enabled by default).
– Debian doesn't have a fixed release schedule for its stable releases either, releasing only 'when ready' (typically 2-3 years).
– There is also an unofficial port of Arch for 32-bit x86 PCs
– You have the option of installing only a base system when installing Debian.

May 13, 2020Still on debian… arch just keeps on failing to work properly… crashing stuff whenever you're least expecting… debian … it just works… and the bullseye distro is good enough

May 13, 2020I like debain because apt is dead simple to use, and sources.list is so easily configurable by hand.

May 13, 20204:56 Great, I just wasted 4:56 minutes hoping you'd tell me which distro is better, only to hear you say that you can't tell me that…
Just kidding. I understand. Personally, I really like Arch, but I went with Manjaro which makes it just as easy to install as Debian ( and is still fairly lightweight compared to something like Ubuntu).

May 13, 2020There is always Debian-Core and Debian-net-install that are pretty much like Arch-Linux Terminal installation and tinkering
I Installed Debian-Core to my old Apple Machintosh G4 PowerBook and I messed up twice before making a Debian-PPC install

May 13, 2020The biggest problem with arch is the conflicts between different versions of gtk…in fact they haven't even removed the old gtk version of lxde but also keep lxde-gtk3. Also slightest crash with pacman can corrupt the entire system. Also arch is not able to handle multiple versions of python as well as debian does. In fact the memory management of debian testing branch is way better than arch the only problem with debian (testing) is that it runs a little older software.

May 13, 2020Arch forums are ruthless and merciless when it comes to the whole RTFM ideology, But in my opinion, I like that about the community. In a tough-love sort of sense, it encourages you to try to figure it out yourself!

May 13, 2020Never was able to install Debian on my Hardware. It killed itself every time after installation restart. Just like Ubuntu did at the first update after clean install. so sorry Debian. I go with an Arch distro. Hardware: Intel i5-4466 with an AMD rx580.

May 13, 2020Honestly I've grown more and more to love the straight stability of Debian.
While I do miss the updates of arch I think I manage just fine.

May 13, 2020Arch is great for tinkering, testing, gaming, computer entertainment. Debian is great when the server cannot fail, when the computer is making your income, keeping your family secure and putting food on the table.
