Dear Lord above…its been two days since I switched from Ubuntu to Debian. As an old time Solaris guy I am no newbie to Unix/Linux but I can tell you Debian 10 feels old in comparison to Ubuntu 18.04, it does not feel agile nor is it as nimble as Ubuntu. Lets see how much more of it I can take before switching back.

It will not install to a USB. It keeps hanging between 13% and 19%. And it'll increase over the course of 5 hours. Then when I boot it, its so slow I can't even get into the desktop environment… The USB sticks I've tried is a 128GB and 16GB both failed to function. Help?

I still think this is the best setup for gaming (unless you have some specific hardware constraint, such as Nvidia Prime). Fast, lightweight, reliable and stable.

I was running the live CD of this, couldn't connect to wifi. I'm cautious to install this over Ubuntu if I can't connect my laptop to my wifi!

I was going to try to contact the developers of Debian. I briefly used to use Ubuntu, Mint. I would use Ubuntu again. But Debian is like the best of both worlds! It really is as good as people said it is. If you ever run into problems you can troubleshoot with Ubuntu documentation too, the fixes are near identical making it really good for the beginner as well. I personally like Gnome. I like MacOS too but Debian is amazing it's worth your time, I personally feel indebted.

3:20 Does the "standard" iso refer to one with no desktop environment? I'm thinking about trying to setup an openbox version.

Really wanting to get Linux working, but so many hurdles. I tried this Debian nonfree, but it still will not recognize my usb adapter. It shows up for lsusb as Realtek8812AU, but I was never prompted to install the drivers. Arrgh. I've tried many distros on this computer, but none will connect to the wifi.

Hello, sir. I am having a problem installing security updates and other things. I cannot update my Debian buster KDE. It tells me that the release file is missing.

sudo apt-get update

Err:2 cdrom://[Official Debian GNU/Linux Live 10.1.0 kde 2019-09-07T13:26] buster Release

Hit:5 http://deb.debian.org/debian buster-updates InRelease
Reading package lists… Done
E: The repository 'cdrom://[Official Debian GNU/Linux Live 10.1.0 kde 2019-09-07T13:26] buster Release' does not have a Release file.
N: Updating from such a repository can't be done securely, and is therefore disabled by default.
N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.

sudo apt-get upgrade

E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg –configure -a' to correct the problem. (for upgrade and update)

Please, help.
