You are so much confused : much of your sentence contradictory and some are repeated . Try BSD I herd it doesn't break user space and less depency problem. BTW if you are focused on something get out of system just work for that these crashing results annoying for everyone . It's your choice do what you feel right,I just wanted to let you know.

i dont find any problem with search function. i m using manjaro kde plasma. file search is very strong feature in kde. u just need to enable file search in system settings in kde plasma. u dont even need to open file explorer in kde if u want to search anything on disk. .u just directly type on keyboard any music or movie file and it will appear with dropdown list from the top of your screen. search function has nothing to do with using ubuntu or arch. it comes with flavors. it doesnt depend on whether u use ubuntu or arch.

distros like fedora, ubuntu is configured in a such a way that it gives you static release for 6 months upto year with stabilty and the kernels are hardened with extra secuity such as firewall, apparmor, selinux. arch cant offer security much coz its rolling updates from the kernel and core packages itself and continous updates breaks things and cant offer you much security. i have updated manjaro every month. no problems with manjaro since 2 yrs.

dude..if u want dont want to update specific packages. then just install pamac frontend for arch. it has option to select the packages that u want to ignore to update. u dont need to update 4gb everytime. arch is about staying on the cutting edge software.
