**WARNING – AC3 SPOILERS AHEAD** We can be a little harsh on Ratonhnhaké:ton – aka Connor Kenway – from Assassin’s Creed 3, but why is that? Eurogamer’s Tom Phillips joined Ellen on the sofa for a spoiler-filled chat about some of the reasons, and how the game failed to show how great Connor could really be.

May 21, 2020Is Connor not your cup of tea? Ellen sits with Eurogamer's Tom Phillips to discuss why Assassin's Creed 3 let him down. 🏹🦅🇺🇸

May 21, 2020kinda childish needing pegasus and multicolor idontknowhat to consider a gen fun… omg. Can you maybe try to talk with a person who actually appreciates him to talk about whther he was put down actually in come cases? I actually like the historical accuracy much better (and I am not alone in that)

May 21, 2020Sorry, I am going to comment as I watch. First, now you pitty Connor. That's not right. Just respect him. You dont even need to like him. Just respect please.
Second – you say he is annnoyed all the time. Well a lot of the time yes, who wouldn't be with the bunch of people who leave the hard stuff on him. But during the side quests, he is everything but.
Third – you say Bayek was better cause rounded out although he too had tragedy in his life. OMG people, Bayek had a great life up untill his son was killed! He got to be a lover, a husband, a father… He also was full of hate on people he considered responsible for his son's death. Well Bayek, unlike Ratonhnhake:ton, had the positive memories in the main sequence, not sideswept to the side missions…
OK, continuing to watch…

May 21, 2020Hate is too strong word but to be in with the crowd, I really hate how you people pick on Ratonhnhaké:ton. "Oh isn't he the worst?" Not everybody needs to be a womenizer to be a worthy human being. Did you at least try? Like how can you not see how good a person he is in his heart?! His respect for women and for people in general. For the nature. For his enemies even. How he tries to help his friends but also just strangers in need. He has also negative qualities like any other human being. But it really annoys me when people just hate on him just cause he is not what THEY thing an assassin hero game character should be. Grrrrrrrr.

May 21, 2020AC3 needed a bow and arrow version of the grappling gun from Syndicate. Just for crossing the street, preferably as a crossbow, or as a rope dart variation.
The Dragon's Weapon.
May 21, 2020I love Connor so much. This video kind of hurt my feelings lol.
Here is a comment I found that sums up my opinion on Connor:
I don't get it, Connor was a serious and straight forward individual who displayed great discipline and conviction. He had a hard life and did what he thought was right for the good of his people and the ideal of freedom.
Moreover, he was already a trained fighter before joining the creed so he knew the concept of discipline from a very young age. His culture also demands it of him so he grew up to be strong and focused not easily clouded by emotion. Is it because you didn't see him cry or get drunk over a heated argument that made him so "bland" ? One has to really be into story telling in order to read the emotion of the character in order to feel their inner plight and understand their perspective. Im not saying you have to agree with it but im also saying you shouldn't be so quick to write Connor off as one dimensional.
I felt his grief when he killed his father and lost Achilles. I saw his happiness and kindness through the homestead missions as he helped the community grow into something great. I felt his pain when he lost his people and his best friend. We saw his passion as he fought to end Charles Lee and consequently the colonial Templar's. However, what stood out to me the most was his perseverance and tenacity as well his indomitable warrior spirit, which were the very things that set him apart from many of the other assassins.

May 21, 2020"Moms dead and gets abondaned " thats a point for him not being a litle upbeat? LOL
Ezio saw his Dad and brothers get killed and yet he always had time for a litle chat and have some fun
Bayek "killed" his own son and still was making stop along the way to speak whit some old friends

May 21, 2020I’ll be honest, I was less focused on the discussion than I was on how much that girl is into that dude. I don’t know what special sauce you’re drinking, Beard Guy, but she is in-to-YOU.

May 21, 2020Connor is one of my favorite characters in the AC universe the native American side is great for the game and the time period and his personality was for me dead on ezio I like but after 3 games he was starting to get played out and to get a fresh caracter as connor was great and p.s no other assassin can rock a axe like connor
Kapilthev kingston
May 21, 2020Yeah, you won't be cheery when you watch your mother burned alive and despite all his effort, he failed. EZIO was a sales pitch but as you go along you move along to deeper stuff, not all heroes are gonna be Will Smith and Brad Pitt.
If all you want is unrealistic charismatic characters than yeah CONNOR is not for you but that dosen't mean he's bad.

May 21, 2020You need a better format for your videos this is painful to watch

May 21, 2020Assassin's Creed 3 was at this difficult place because of the way Ubisoft develops this series.
One game lays the foundation (Assassin's Creed 1 & 3), the games afterwards are the best one because the development cycle is completed (Assassin's Creed 2 and Blackflag) – but ironically, Connor and Altair are actually pretty much alike. Both pretty bland.
They messed it up with Unity when this concept finally collapsed but it's really amusing that this is even evident in the way they developed their main characters. You can literally see how even Rogue and Revelations are extremely similar in the way they are set up.

May 21, 2020So Connor is like most of the DC movies, quiet a bit of potential but it's jsut not being used.

May 21, 2020Connor also has the best assassin robes

May 21, 2020I like Connor because he’s a Native American assassin, and I’m a Native American descendant, It’s quite nice to play as one of my people
StormsAndSaints
May 21, 2020I think if you do all of the homestead missions, Connor feels more likeable. He comes out of his shell more. You can see the progression. If you don't bother, he's bland. Very bland.
It's sad, really. A half Native American Assassin was such a good prospect. They went about it in all the wrong ways.
StormsAndSaints
May 21, 2020Video about Connor.
Ends up talking about Ezio for half of it.
The final insult.

May 21, 2020I didn't expect from both or you shitting on game and almost everything about it for like 3/4 of the video
I think i'm not going to watch next video from this channel

May 21, 2020Connor’s my favorite.

May 21, 2020This game had the lamest final boss mission ever. Since you control Connor you want to kill Charles Lee and THEN fight the Templar Grandmaster, Haytham Kenway…
But you get a fight with Haytham that last 10 seconds (and Connor was stunned because of a building exploding a meter left to him) and you don't even fight Charles, you just do the most boring chase that is not even properly scripted, because you can fall from the place you should go and don't even notice it.
Omen Akumaru
May 21, 2020Ratonhnhaké:ton's line, "What would you have me do", shows an willingness to help, like a number of Biblical characters
Omen Akumaru
May 21, 2020Its Ratonhnhaké:ton, & he is WAY better than any other AC lead because he is Native American, the rest are from far more mainstream cultures, who feature in stories feature far more prominently!
The main reason the game failed Ratonhnhaké:ton, because 1st you start playing as his dad, Haytham, & secondly he gets thrown in prison, as you got used to him as an assassin & waste too much time in prison, when none of the others assassins have had to deal with that!
And Ezio like Altair is pathetic because he cant swim!

May 21, 2020I think also Assassins Creed 3 let Connor down because they didn't also fully go into the emotional weight of Connor being Indigenous during this time period. He is part of a marginalized group of people who are caught in the middle of a war for land that was stolen from them. Land they are the original owners and caretakers of. On one side you got the colonizing imperial British who did steal the land from them and screwed them all over to high heaven with disease and genocide among many other things. One the other side you got the Americans who would eventually just treat the Indigenous people the same way the British did. So Connor is really trapped in the middle still trying to be idealistic and honorable in a conflict that couldn't care less about his community. I would argue he has more emotional stake in this game then Ezio did in his first game. When Connor fights he is not just hitting with the weight of his lost family, but he is hitting with the weight of the Indigenous people who have been screwed over by colonizaton and imperialism..

May 21, 2020I liked Conner. I get why some don't, but I'm glad they took a different approach after Ezio

May 21, 202019:47 – The point made here about "It's not the NY or Boston we know" has little bearing on Connor's character. Why is this even mentioned? Comparing it to the modern day NY and Boston that "we know" feels terribly moot and sidetracked.
