"Question : I would like to know how to have my WiFi working"
"Typical answer : Why don't you use another WiFi card".
"Typical answer : What did you break, try adding $$join(INCLUDEPATH,'" -I"','-I"','"') sed "s/^.*: //" to the involved WiFi drivers makefiles then rebuild your kernel, you noob"

April 29, 2020'Almost six hundred Linux distributions exist, with close to five hundred out of those in active development.' According to a Google search. Almost every distro team could do with more people working on QA, most are stretched incredibly thin.

April 29, 2020Thanks for this. I just picked up a course on Linux basics on Udemy and now you've got me thinking about installing Linux on some old laptops I have. I'm a chronic endless tinkerer, so this sounds like a great platform for me!

April 29, 2020Windows servers are very reliable nowadays. I have worked with large tableau servers running on windows and they are stable. The only concern is cost.
Shared Knowledge
April 29, 2020This is Linus reading a script he knows little about as 99% of everything he does uses the malware known as Windows 10. Linus has even admitted many times on camera he knows little about Linux. What a farce. Why not have one of your team who actually is literate in Linux do this video? Sometimes you are the Donald Trump of YouTubers.

April 29, 2020when MS ended support for windows 7 i jumped ship all the way to linux. It's been a learning curve after nearly 25 years with windows, but linux mint made the transition fairly easy. and any questions i have i can find the answers from the forums…

April 29, 2020Literally in shock when you mentioned 'stability' I have wasted days of my life on two separate occasions with two out dated but perfectly capable machines.
Just for a get go: Ubuntu uses at least a gig of memory out of the box, and you will need 2GB plus for it to be usable – and by usable I mean not literally hard lockup forcing a hard reset when it runs out of memory. now I'm sure there is a way to fix that, but my point is it does NOT "just work" out of the box. I'm sure if you know what you are doing, you can confidently get linux very stable and efficient. But if you don't know what you are doing, its a nightmare. You can easily (as I have) break your system to the point of needing a reinstall just trying to set up file sharing, remote desktop, or even just getting external drives to work. And this has got to be one of the most common use cases for linux, yet it takes days and hundreds of google searches to get things working.
If you a proficient in linux, I'm sure its great.
If you are a complete noob to computers in general, then I'm sure an out of the box install of ubuntu for basic web browsing is great.
If you are otherwise proficient in computers, but new to linux, and just want to get something to work, it is a f***ing nightmare.

April 29, 2020Ok Linus. You have convinced me to try it. I've got a spare computer that I'm gonna install Linux onto and see how it helps my 3D modelling and printing.
